Sabrina Carpenter Drops New Single "Manchild"

Sabrina Carpenter has kicked off 2025 with a bang, releasing her latest single, "Manchild," on June 6. This track marks her first new music since the deluxe edition of her Grammy-winning album, Short n’ Sweet. Co-written with Amy Allen and produced by Jack Antonoff, "Manchild" blends sharp wit with infectious melodies, offering listeners a playful yet pointed take on youthful relationships.

A Fresh Sound with Familiar Flair

"Manchild" showcases Carpenter's signature blend of '80s-inspired synth-pop infused with a touch of country twang and disco energy. The song's upbeat tempo contrasts with its biting lyrics, delivering lines like, "Did you just say you're finished? Didn't know we started." This juxtaposition creates a track that's both danceable and thought-provoking, reminiscent of her previous hit, "Please Please Please."

Behind the Lyrics: A Nod to Personal Growth

While fans have speculated connections to Carpenter's past relationships, the artist describes "Manchild" as a reflection on the complexities of young adulthood. In a recent Instagram post, she humorously thanked the men who "tested" her, indicating that the song serves as a cathartic release and a "loving eye roll" at past experiences. The B-side of the vinyl release, intriguingly titled "Inside of Your Head When You've Just Won an Argument with a Man," further emphasizes the song's playful critique of immaturity.

Continuing a Stellar Year

"Manchild" follows the success of Short n’ Sweet, which earned Carpenter two Grammy Awards: Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Pop Solo Performance for "Espresso." She also delivered a memorable performance at the Grammys, blending "Espresso" with "Please Please Please." Looking ahead, Carpenter is set to perform at Primavera Sound Barcelona on June 6 and will headline major festivals like Austin City Limits and Lollapalooza later this summer. Her North American tour will feature support from artists Ravyn Lenae, Amber Mark, and Olivia Dean.
