Paranormal Investigator Dan Rivera Dies Suddenly During ‘Devils on the Run’ Tour

Dan Rivera, age 54, passed away unexpectedly on July 13, 2025, while on the “Devils on the Run” tour in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. Rivera was presenting the infamous “Annabelle” doll, believed by enthusiasts to carry a malevolent presence. Emergency responders administered CPR in his hotel room, but he was later pronounced dead. The official cause of death is still pending.

A Life Dedicated to the Paranormal

A U.S. Army veteran from Bridgeport, Connecticut, Rivera had devoted over a decade to investigating supernatural phenomena. He served as senior lead investigator for the New England Society for Psychic Research (NESPR), the group founded by renowned paranormal experts Ed and Lorraine Warren. Rivera gained attention through the Travel Channel’s Most Haunted Places, served as a consulting producer on Netflix’s 28 Days Haunted, and shared viral TikToks about unexplained experiences.

Showcasing Annabelle: A Haunting Legacy

Rivera was the centerpiece of the Gettysburg segment of the tour, held at the historic Soldiers’ National Orphanage. All three performances—Friday to Sunday—were sold out. The Annabelle doll, a Raggedy Ann toy dating back to 1968, has a chilling history: originally investigated by the Warrens for alleged supernatural activity and later locked in their Occult Museum. Rivera had taken stewardship of the doll, bringing its eerie narrative to audiences nationwide.

Tributes and Remembrances

NESPR released a heartfelt statement expressing deep sorrow and celebrating Rivera’s dedication to educating the public on paranormal phenomena. Lead investigator Chris “Jeek” Gilloren on NESPR’s Facebook page described Rivera as “a great man” whose passion touched many. The tour’s host, Ghostly Images of Gettysburg, also paid tribute, calling him a beloved friend and partner.

Peers in the paranormal community, including investigators like Ryan Buell and fans across social media, echoed their grief. Holly Johnson shared on Instagram, “The paranormal community has lost a great person… You will surely be missed.”

The Investigation Continues

Although resuscitation efforts were made, definitive information on the cause of death awaits the Adams County Coroner’s report. Authorities indicate the result is still pending.
