Storyline

The plot of Oddity centers on a psychic medium’s investigation at the crime scene to learn the truth about her sister’s murder. She uses her special skills to solve the mysteries surrounding her sister’s death, driven by grief and tenacity, and with the help of a wooden mannequin that was inspired by Jewish folklore. A psychic medium explores the paranormal in Oddity in an attempt to unravel the mystery surrounding her sister’s murder. In this eerie setting, she makes use of her gifts to speak with the dead and uncover secrets, which leads to a string of unsettling revelations that make her question her sanity and beliefs.

Oddity gives a masterclass in atmosphere and tension. The movie does a great job of creating tension and anxiety despite its slow burn, thanks to a complex plot that stays away from common horror clichés. Even though it occasionally looks a little silly, the wooden mannequin serves an important purpose in the story. The movie succeeds because it can effectively combine paranormal elements with an engaging mystery. — Score: 8 out of 10.
