Oasis ditch dynamic ticket pricing for US gigs

Oasis has made a significant announcement regarding their upcoming American tour, revealing that they will eliminate dynamic pricing after it led to an “unacceptable experience” for fans during their UK dates. The controversial pricing model, which adjusts ticket costs based on demand, resulted in some fans being charged over £350 for tickets originally priced at £150 when they went on sale, prompting widespread backlash and an investigation by the UK’s competition regulator into Ticketmaster’s practices.

In a statement regarding their new tour dates in the US, Canada, and Mexico, the band’s management emphasized their desire to avoid repeating the issues experienced by fans in the UK and Ireland. They acknowledged that while dynamic pricing can be an effective tool against ticket scalping and helps keep prices affordable for many fans, it becomes problematic when faced with overwhelming demand and technology that struggles to handle it.

Previously, band members Noel and Liam Gallagher expressed that they were unaware dynamic pricing would be used for their UK stadium shows set for next summer. They clarified that ticketing and pricing decisions were left entirely to their promoters and management.

The reunion marks Oasis’ first tour in nearly 16 years, following their breakup in 2009, which culminated in a notorious altercation between the Gallagher brothers during a gig in Paris. Since then, they have engaged in a prolonged public feud, characterized by humorous yet biting exchanges on social media. Liam has infamously referred to Noel as a “massive potato,” while Noel has labeled Liam a “village idiot” in response to various disputes, including a controversy over Liam’s absence from the One Love concert for victims of the Manchester Arena bombing.

Despite their tumultuous history, Oasis is set to perform seven concerts at Wembley Stadium next summer, with additional shows in Manchester, Cardiff, Edinburgh, and Dublin. The band recently announced the following dates for their North American and Mexican leg:

  • Rogers Stadium in Toronto, Canada: August 24
  • Soldier Field in Chicago, Illinois: August 28
  • MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey: August 31
  • Rose Bowl Stadium in Los Angeles, California: September 6
  • Estadio GNP Seguros in Mexico City, Mexico: September 12

In their concert announcement, Oasis playfully stated, “America. Oasis is coming. You have one last chance to prove that you loved us all along,” setting the stage for what promises to be a memorable reunion tour. Fans eagerly anticipate how the brothers will navigate their complex relationship as they take the stage together once more.
