Nikki Haley Gives Response After Trump Says She Won’t Be Part of New Cabinet
Nikki Haley, former U.N. Ambassador under President Trump, responded graciously after he publicly announced that she would not be joining his new administration. Haley, who had previously run against Trump for the Republican presidential nomination, expressed her well-wishes for his upcoming term. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Haley wrote, "I was proud to work with President Trump defending America at the United Nations. I wish him, and all who serve, great success in moving us forward to a stronger, safer America over the next four years."
This response came after Trump shared his decision on Truth Social, stating that neither Haley nor former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo would be invited to join his administration. Trump also expressed his gratitude for their service, saying, "I very much enjoyed and appreciated working with them previously, and would like to thank them for their service to our Country." He concluded his message with his familiar slogan, “MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
Haley’s response is marked by professionalism and support, despite the fact that during her presidential bid, she had positioned herself as an alternative to Trump. However, before Election Day, Haley penned an op-ed titled "Trump Isn’t Perfect, but He’s the Better Choice," where she acknowledged that while she didn’t agree with Trump 100% of the time, she found his leadership to be far preferable to that of then-Vice President Kamala Harris, stating, "That makes this an easy call."
While Haley's comments reflect a tone of unity and forward-looking support, it also underscores her political positioning as a figure with a nuanced relationship to Trump, balancing critique with endorsement when necessary.
