In the nearby village of Gagnieres, another victim lost their life as floodwaters swept away a car carrying two Belgian passengers. One passenger managed to escape and was found clinging to a tree, enduring a two-hour ordeal before being rescued by emergency responders.
Rescue efforts intensified in the Gard department, with over 300 workers mobilized to search for the missing individuals. Tragically, two more bodies were discovered in a submerged car in the village of Goudargues, identified as two women aged 47 and 50 who were reportedly en route to Spain.
In the neighboring Ardeche department, a hydroelectric power station manager went missing while conducting checks in the village of Saint Martin de Valamas.
