The San Jose Sharks secured the top pick in the 2024 Upper Deck NHL Draft following their success in the NHL Draft Lottery. They will be followed by the Chicago Blackhawks at No. 2 and the Anaheim Ducks at No. 3.

This marks the Sharks’ first-ever No. 1 pick, having previously chosen second on three occasions. The draft will take place at Sphere in Las Vegas, with the first round scheduled for June 28 and Rounds 2-7 on June 29. Macklin Celebrini, a standout prospect from Boston University and top-ranked North American skater, is speculated to be a strong candidate for the Sharks’ top pick. Celebrini’s exceptional season, marked by numerous accolades including the Hobey Baker Award, has garnered attention from NHL scouts.

Despite not securing the first pick, the Blackhawks and Ducks are optimistic about their selections and are prepared to strengthen their rosters with promising talent from the draft. The draft order beyond the top three picks will be determined by the results of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, with several teams eagerly awaiting their positions in the upcoming selections.
