Born on August 23, 1947, to James Floyd Blevins and Genoa Faye Pinkerton, Sandra’s journey began in the picturesque town of Ashland, nestled along the banks of the Ohio River. Raised in a loving and nurturing environment, Sandra’s childhood was marked by the warmth of her family’s embrace and the guidance of her parents, who instilled in her values of compassion, integrity, and resilience.
After graduating from Fairview High School, Sandra embarked on a new chapter of her life, marrying her beloved husband and moving to Frankfort, Kentucky, where she would spend the next two decades building a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Together with her husband, Sandra created a home filled with warmth and hospitality, where family and friends were always welcomed with open arms.
In Frankfort, Sandra’s unwavering spirit and commitment to serving others shone brightly, as she dedicated herself to her work as a retirement counselor IV at the Kentucky Retirement Systems. Known for her compassionate nature and tireless dedication to helping others plan for their futures, Sandra touched the lives of countless individuals and families throughout her career, leaving an enduring legacy of service and compassion.
But it was Sandra’s role as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother that brought her the greatest joy and fulfillment. Devoted to her two sons, Patrick and Deron, Sandra poured her heart and soul into nurturing and supporting them as they grew into the remarkable men they are today. Her love knew no bounds, and her presence was a source of comfort and strength for her family, even in the face of life’s greatest challenges.
As a grandmother to Eric, Brittany, Jordan, and Cameron, and a great-grandmother to Channing, Abel, and Wrenley, Sandra’s love and affection knew no bounds. She delighted in spending time with her grandchildren, showering them with love and affection, and creating cherished memories that will be treasured for generations to come.
Throughout her life, Sandra remained steadfast in her faith, finding solace and strength in her belief in a higher power. A devoted member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, Sandra’s faith was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her through life’s ups and downs and inspiring her to live with grace, humility, and compassion.
As we bid farewell to Sandra Lou Blevins McDonald, we take comfort in the knowledge that her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to Hillcrest Baptist Church, and/or the Franklin County and Anderson County humane societies, a fitting tribute to Sandra’s love for her church and her passion for helping animals in need.
