According to Nakanishi, “We’re creating a new Resident Evil.” To be honest, it felt significant, even though it was incredibly tough to figure out what to do after 7. I hope you are looking forward to the day even if I am not yet able to provide any specifics I can.

Capcom has unleashed a deluge of remasters of some of its biggest game classics. During the same stream, Capcom also announced a re-release of the first Dead Rising called Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The remaster of the mall zombie slayer will feature a new voiceover for the game’s journalist protagonist Frank West, updated HD graphics, and fluffier poodles. Capcom also announced a demo for the Japanese-inspired, strategy action game Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess and a re-release of Resident Evil: Biohazard for Apple mobile devices and Apple computers.

The announcement of Resident Evil 9 has undoubtedly thrilled fans who have been eagerly waiting for a new installment. The franchise, known for its intense atmosphere, intricate storylines, and unforgettable characters, has set a high standard with each release. Resident Evil Village, the most recent entry, raised the bar with its stunning graphics, immersive gameplay, and a compelling narrative that kept players on the edge of their seats. Given this, the expectations for Resident Evil 9 are exceptionally high.

Koshi Nakanishi’s involvement in Resident Evil 9 is a promising sign. His previous work on Resident Evil 7: Biohazard was instrumental in reviving the series with a fresh perspective, emphasizing horror elements and first-person gameplay. This change revitalized the franchise, bringing it back to its horror roots while introducing new gameplay mechanics that resonated well with both longtime fans and newcomers. Nakanishi’s expertise and vision are expected to bring a similarly innovative approach to Resident Evil 9.

The challenge of creating a sequel that lives up to the high standards set by its predecessors is no small feat. Resident Evil 7: Biohazard and Resident Evil Village both pushed the boundaries of horror gaming, combining intricate storytelling with terrifying gameplay. As Nakanishi hinted, finding the right direction for the new game was difficult, but the outcome is expected to be substantial. While details remain scarce, the anticipation is building as fans speculate about the new horrors and challenges that await in Resident Evil 9.

The updated graphics and new voiceover for Frank West are likely to attract both old fans and new players, offering a fresh experience while maintaining the original game’s charm.

In addition to Dead Rising, Capcom’s decision to re-release Resident Evil: Biohazard for Apple devices expands the franchise’s accessibility. Mobile gaming has grown significantly, and bringing a major title like Resident Evil to this platform opens it up to a broader audience. This move reflects Capcom’s understanding of the changing landscape of gaming and its effort to stay relevant across different platforms.

The demo for Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess adds another exciting element to Capcom’s lineup. This Japanese-inspired strategy action game promises to offer a unique experience, blending traditional elements with modern gameplay mechanics. The inclusion of such diverse titles in Capcom’s portfolio demonstrates the company’s versatility and its ability to cater to a wide range of gaming preferences.
