Lythgoe’s absence from the 18th series of the popular US talent competition comes in the wake of accusations leveled against him by singer and dancer Paula Abdul.
Abdul, known for her role as a judge on hit TV shows American Idol and So You Think You Can Dance, accused Lythgoe of multiple instances of sexual assault during her tenure on these programs. Lythgoe has vehemently denied these allegations, stating his intention to focus on clearing his name and restoring his reputation.
As the new season premiered, viewers noted the absence of Lythgoe, who had been a prominent figure on the show since its inception. In his place, British host Cat Deeley took the reins, introducing a panel of judges including ballroom champion Maksim Chmerkovskiy, season four alumni Comfort Fedoke, and Allison Holker.

Addressing Holker directly, Jin expressed gratitude for her grace and for upholding tWitch’s legacy, highlighting the profound impact of the show and its participants on viewers’ lives.
