As Carson Wentz continues to search for his next NFL opportunity, he recently shared a captivating photo on social media that has fans and analysts speculating about his future. The image showed Wentz working out while wearing gear from all three NFL teams he has played for – a Philadelphia Eagles helmet, a Washington Commanders practice jersey, and Indianapolis Colts shorts.

The former No. 2 overall pick has experienced a tumultuous journey over the past few seasons, starting for three different teams in consecutive Week 1 games. This streak might be one of the reasons why the talented quarterback remains a free agent as the preseason gets underway.

Last year, while playing for the Commanders, Wentz completed 62.3% of his passes for 1,755 yards, recording 11 touchdowns and nine interceptions with a passer rating of 80.2. However, he eventually got benched in favor of Taylor Heinicke and Sam Howell.

Before his stint with the Commanders, Wentz joined the Colts in the 2021 season, but his performance fell short of expectations. The team’s Week 18 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars eliminated them from playoff contention and marked the end of Wentz’s tenure with the franchise.

Wentz began his NFL career as the Eagles’ No. 2 overall pick and was a finalist for the league MVP award in 2017 before suffering a torn ACL in Week 14. His backup, Nick Foles, famously led the Eagles to their first Super Bowl victory while Wentz was on injured reserve. Injuries to his back and head have since hampered his career progress.

With a career record of 46-45-1 as a starter, Wentz’s statistics are solid, having completed 62.6% of his passes with an 89.3 passer rating. Despite being only 30 years old, he has encountered difficulties finding a new team in the current quarterback market.

Wentz has expressed his willingness to accept a backup role, but such positions are currently scarce. Nevertheless, he has been training with Jon Gruden in his efforts to make an NFL comeback. The intriguing workout photo adds to the anticipation of where Wentz’s next NFL stop will be.
