The release of Wonder Woman 1984 has been delayed several times, but it appears that it’ll be finally released on 25th December, 2020. Considering the rise in the number of COVID-19 cases, it is highly possible that the much awaited movie will be releases in one of two ways.
Will Wonder Woman 1984 see a theater release?
One way is that the Wonder Woman 1984 will be released as planned on 25th December, but it’ll also be released on HBO Max a few weeks later in early January. The second possible way to release the film considering the public safety is to delay it once more till the summer of 2021. It won’t be shocking to see Warner Bros. postponing the film’s release given the fact that its latest and biggest theatrical release, Tenet, couldn’t keep up with their expectations in terms of performance. Not only did the poor performance of Tenet affect Warner Bros. but it also caused many other renowned studios to delay their releases so as to avoid the same consequences.
Releasing Wonder Woman 1984 as planned on 25th December in combination with an early release on HBO Max may seem as a witty move for Warner Bros. as it is an emerging streaming platform and has little competition unlike Disney Plus or Netflix. Ever since Disney reported an increase in its share price as it crossed 73 million subscriptions on Disney Plus, despite a loss of $710 million, Warner Bros. may choose to go for a streaming-centered platform for releasing its movie.
The studio can also decide to postpone the release of Wonder Woman 1984 to mid 2021 as it would be a much safer choice given that there may be a vaccine available by then. Though there’s no official statement from the Warner Bros. studio, it did assure that WW84 will likely be released in theaters.
