Don Lee explains how Eternals adjusted Gilgamesh’s character so that he could play him for the Marvel film. Eternals was originally slated to make a big appearance in theaters in 2020, however it was pushed back a whole year due to the coronavirus pandemic. It carried out toward the beginning of November and immediately became one of the most exceptional MCU releases yet. For a certain something, its style and story were not normal for some other Marvel movie that had preceded it. For another, Eternals acquired blended reviews from fans and critics, notching the worst Rotten Tomatoes score of the whole MCU.

In bringing the Eternals to the big screen, the movie made some adjustments to the source material. As Lee explained in a new interview with Rolling Stone Korea, Gilgamesh’s race and fighting style were both adjusted so he could play him. This astounded Lee, who knew almost promptly he would be ideal for the part. He said:

“When I read for the character of Gilgamesh, I knew that it was ideal for me. Director Chloe Zhao and Marvel formed the character to fit me. Indeed, Gilgamesh isn’t so much as an Asian character. They changed the character to suit me. They knew that I had boxed for quite a while, so they changed the activity to hand-to-hand battle. I was truly touched that they were so considerate and made the character to fit me.”

However Marvel has yet to affirm any kind of follow-up, the Eternals ending suggested there is much ahead for these characters. One can assume they will ultimately cross over with other figures in the MCU, however the present moment, it’s impossible to say as to how they will. Since Eternals needed to spend so much time establishing every person, future installments can delve further into their characters than any time in recent memory. Hopefully Marvel moves rapidly on finding a new spot for the Eternals in its steadily growing universe.
