Angelina Jolie, who portrays Thena in Marvel’s Eternals, talks about her character teaming up with Kumail Nanjiani’s Kingo in a future MCU project. Eternals is the latest movie to join Marvel’s Cinematic Universe, introducing another team of heroes to the growing film franchise. The Eternals are a group of immortal beings shipped off Earth by a Celestial to free the universe of deviants, while they also influence human history more than thousands of years. The movie is helmed by Chlo Zhao, new off her history-making Best Director Oscar win for Nomadland. Aside from Jolie and Nanjiani, Eternals boasts a stellar cast, including Salma Hayek, Richard Madden, Kit Harington, Gemma Chan, and Brian Tyree Henry.

The latest D23 Inside Disney podcast featured Jolie and Nanjiani discussing Eternals. While talking about what fans might want to see from their characters in the future, Jolie makes reference to that Thena and Kingo would make a great pairing because, as she put it, “We’re kind of amazing alternate extremes.” Nanjiani then ringed in, agreeing with Jolie prior to mentioning that she raised this same idea to Marvel Studio President Kevin Feige during the after-party of the Eternals debut. Look at Jolie and Nanjiani’s remarks beneath:

Jolie: “I think Kingo and Thena havent had sufficient play. We were saying one of us is extremely physical one of us is exceptionally verbal. One of us is veryan outgoing individual and one of us is somewhat of an introvert. Were kind of amazing contrary energies.”

Nanjiani: “I think we would make a great pairing and Im so glad you said that to Kevin at the after-party for the debut. You resembled what about both of us?”

Jolie: “Yeah, marry be so acceptable. Were pushing.”

This is also not the primary team-up to be recommended for Kingo. Nanjiani recently referenced Shang-Chi as a potential pairing for Kingo in the future. While nothing is settled forever, it’s also interesting that Jolie went as far as pitching the Kingo/Thena team-up to Feige, which could plant the seed of an idea that could develop into a reality not too far off. Thena and Kingo’s future in the MCU is at present obscure. Nonetheless, the ending of Eternals makes way for the new grandiose heroes having to deal with the ramifications of their choices. For those yet to see Eternals, it’s currently playing in theaters.
