Eternals chief Chloé Zhao has revealed how Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel inspired her work on the latest Marvel film. The Eternals film is the 26th feature to exist in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and it is the 30th project to come from Marvel Studios overall. The movie, which opened in theaters nationwide this end of the week, takes the MCU in a completely new direction. The story spans thousands of years as the legend rousing Eternals shield humanity from the monstrous Deviants at the direction of Marvel’s giant space divine beings the Celestials.

In a new meeting with the French publication cinema.jeuxactu.com, Zhao based upon past remarks by saying that she was inspired by the latest Superman movie, 2013’s Man of Steel from chief Zack Snyder. She said that she delighted in how the film approached the god-like Kal-El by zeroing in on the humanity and realism in the story. At the point when asked about how Superman might have inspired the character of Ikaris, Zhao answered:

“You said it, not me! Superman is the Übermensch, the ultimate man, the superman, a concept that exists in all societies. Of all advanced interpretations of Superman, this is Zack Snyder’s with Man Of Steel which inspired me the most because he approached this fantasy in an authentic and genuine way. I thought it was Superman by Terrence Malick when I saw the trailer. This film had a strong effect on me. In any case, Ikaris is, obviously, our own take on Superman.”

Zhao’s positive opinions toward Man of Steel are not a major amazement yet are great to hear nonetheless. Although the divisions and debates among Marvel and DC fans can often be quite poisonous, it’s always encouraging to see the talent engaged with the movies voicing support for one another. Maybe Zhao could emulate James Gunn’s example and go as far as actually working with DC, however ideally not before she makes an Eternals spin-off of capitalize on those wild end credits scenes.
