Pixar just released new idea art for their forthcoming feature film, Turning Red. The movie will be coordinated by Domee Shi, whose Pixar short Bao won the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film, as well as be created by Lindsey Collins, who co-delivered Pixar’s WALLE. Turning Red is required to release in Spring 2022.

Pixar divulged new idea art for the film on Twitter after appearing it at Annecy, the acclaimed international animated film festival. In the drawing, Mei Lee walks through the halls of her school in red panda structure, all eyes stuck to her while she stays away in embarrassment. Her extended backpack is hanging on for dear life as an understudy jabs at her tail in awe, apparently unused to seeing Mei Lee like this.

After Soul and Luca were centered around Disney+ streaming releases rather than theatrical ones because of the COVID-19 pandemic, it was announced that Turning Red presently desires to be a theatrical release. On the off chance that Turning Red manages to pull it off, it would be the main Pixar film to release theatrically since Onward did exactly two years earlier in March 2020. Given the lower critical gatherings of Pixar’s latest movies (with Metacritic scores of 61 for Onward and 71 for Luca, compared to 94 for Inside Out and 92 for Toy Story 3), many fans trust Turning Red can be a course remedy for a studio that’s gotten perceived as the best quality level of PC animation.

During the festival, Shi talked about how this film, similar to her short Bao, largely has to do with her own relationship with her mom. Given Pixar’s fractured parent-kid relationships like in Finding Nemo, Coco, and Ratatouille, Turning Red vows to be one more addition to the animated studio’s assortment of laughs and exercises. With this idea art and ideally a full trailer not long from now, fans can improve see how Shi’s talent on Bao has translated to a full-length feature.
