Mystery Deepens in 'Agatha All Along': Why Can't the Teen Reveal His True Identity?

The highly anticipated WandaVision spinoff Agatha All Along has finally arrived, taking us back to Westview with a brand-new batch of supernatural twists and turns. Among the new characters is a mysterious young man simply referred to as “the Teen,” played by Joe Locke. While his name and past are shrouded in secrecy, it’s clear that there’s much more to him than meets the eye. Even Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn) is baffled by his true nature. So why can’t the Teen reveal his name, and what powerful magic is at play?
From the first two episodes, it’s clear that the Teen’s identity is being actively concealed. In Episode 2, “Circle Sewn With Fate / Unlock Thy Hidden Gate,” two strange incidents occur when the Teen tries to share details about himself. First, while pleading with Agatha to let him join her journey on the Witches’ Road, he reveals his name—only for his mouth to appear sewn shut the moment he says it. Later, as he attempts to talk about his past while they’re driving back to Westview, his voice mysteriously fades out, making it impossible for Agatha to hear his story. Even more bizarrely, he doesn’t seem to notice these strange occurrences, as though a powerful spell is at work to protect his identity.
This spell is no ordinary enchantment; it’s clearly designed to prevent both the Teen and those around him from uncovering his true self. But who could be responsible for such powerful magic? Some fans have speculated that the Teen is none other than Billy Maximoff, a reincarnation of Wanda’s son, who possesses reality-warping powers in the comics as the superhero Wiccan. In WandaVision, Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) created her twin sons, Billy and Tommy, out of her grief. By the end of the series, however, the children were lost when Wanda dismantled the hex around Westview. If the Teen is indeed Billy, it’s possible that a spell was cast by Wanda herself or another powerful force to protect his reincarnated identity.

In the comics, Billy and his twin brother, Tommy, are reborn into different families, only later discovering their true origins as Wanda and Vision’s children. The fact that the Teen mentions being from Eastview rather than Westview could be a subtle nod to this concept of reincarnation. His reality-altering abilities, similar to Wanda’s, make this theory even more compelling, especially since he was able to break one of her spells by freeing Agatha.
Alternatively, the Teen could be Nicholas Scratch, a powerful sorcerer and the son of Agatha Harkness in the comics. Agatha’s home is filled with trophies bearing the name “Nicholas Scratch,” hinting that he may be her estranged child seeking revenge. Nicholas has long been a villain in Marvel comics, aligning himself with dark forces and even selling his soul to Dormammu. If the Teen is indeed Nicholas Scratch, his quest to walk the Witches’ Road may be part of a larger plan to gain power and settle the score with his mother.
As the episodes unfold, one thing is certain: the Teen’s identity will play a pivotal role in the story, and the reveal is bound to shake the foundations of Agatha’s coven. With each new episode of Agatha All Along, viewers are left wondering just who this enigmatic character really is—and what dark secrets lie behind his silenced name.
