STORYLINE
In the year 1991, faced with adversity, the Smallbone family embarked on a significant journey from their home in Sydney, Australia to Nashville, Tennessee, in pursuit of a fresh start. David and Helen, alongside their seven children, made the courageous decision to leave behind their established lives, seeking solace and opportunity in Nashville following the collapse of David’s music company in Australia.
As the family settled into their new surroundings, they were met with a plethora of challenges, ranging from financial hardships to the daunting task of rebuilding their lives in a foreign land. Despite the uncertainty that loomed over them, Helen’s steadfast faith and David’s unwavering determination served as beacons of strength, guiding them through the tumultuous times and nurturing resilience within their children.
Amidst the backdrop of their new home, three of the Smallbone siblings, namely Joel, Luke, and Rebecca St. James, honed their musical talents and embarked on the arduous journey of navigating the competitive music industry. BOX-OFFICE COLLECTION In the United States and Canada, “Unsung Hero” hit theaters alongside “Challengers” and “Boy Kills World,” with initial estimations forecasting a weekend box office gross of approximately $6 million across 2,800 theaters. The film garnered $3.7 million on its opening day, inclusive of $1.67 million from preview screenings. Ultimately, it premiered with $7.7 million, securing the second spot behind “Challengers.” In its subsequent weekend, the film experienced a decline of 61%, earning $3 million and placing seventh overall.
