Michael Reagan, Son of President Ronald Reagan and Conservative Voice, Dies at 80

Michael Reagan, the eldest son of former U.S. President Ronald Reagan, has died at age 80, his family and the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute announced. He passed away on January 4, 2026, in Los Angeles, surrounded by family, according to the foundation’s statement shared publicly.

The Reagan family described him as a beloved husband, father and grandfather whose loss has left their hearts “deeply broken.” They asked for privacy and prayers as they grieve.

Michael Reagan was widely known as a conservative political commentator and media personality, hosting The Michael Reagan Show on talk radio and contributing to right-leaning outlets. He also authored several books and was active in public speaking across conservative circles.

Born in 1945, Reagan was adopted shortly after birth by Ronald Reagan and his then-wife Jane Wyman. He briefly pursued acting in the 1980s, appearing in television roles before transitioning into radio and political commentary. Over the years, he became a prominent voice defending his father’s legacy and principles.

In addition to his media work, Michael Reagan was involved in charitable efforts and organizations tied to causes such as adoption, juvenile diabetes and Alzheimer’s, and played an active role with the Reagan Legacy Foundation.

Although the foundation did not immediately disclose a specific medical cause of death, several reports indicate that Reagan had been battling cancer prior to his passing.

Reagan’s life spanned public media, personal reflection on family history, and decades of commitment to conservative commentary and advocacy. His passing marks the loss of a visible figure in American political media and a direct link to one of the nation’s most influential presidencies.
