Lala Kent Confesses She No Longer Gets Along with Many of Her Vanderpump Rules Co-Stars: 'I Burned a Lot of Bridges
Lala Kent admits that her relationships have become strained with many of her co-stars from Vanderpump Rules, including Ariana Madix and Katie Maloney, as she reflects on burning bridges and her changing role on the hit Bravo series.
Lala Kent, a staple on Bravo's "Vanderpump Rules" recently revealed a few damaged relationships with some of the cast members when she stopped by to appear on "Watch What Happens Live" with Andy Cohen. The reality star said she burned a lot of bridges" and noted that she does not speak with a number of her former colleagues, which could mark a new direction for the long-running series.
During the interview, Cohen asked Kent about her relationship with key castmates like Ariana Madix. Kent candidly admitted, "We don't speak." This comes as news, seeing as Madix has skyrocketed in status following the infamous Scandoval scandal, which shot her to a spot on "Dancing with the Stars", a Broadway role in "Chicago" and a hosting gig on "Love Island USA". Despite the distance between them, Kent expressed genuine happiness for Madix's success. "She’s killing it, and I’m thrilled about it," she said. Distance from Key Castmates
Kent, now 34, also stated that her relations with another show personality, Katie Maloney, have taken a dip since the season 11 reunion aired in May. The reunion, fraught with tension and still undone issues, seems to have cemented gaps in their friendship. The ambiguity surrounding Vanderpump Rules further makes things complicated. In general, filming a new season is scheduled for the summer, but the show's fate is yet unknown. Since the fans are in high expectation for a declaration about season 12, the broken relationships between the cast members could be an obstacle for the producers.
Personal and Professional Changes Kent's personal life also evolves dramatically. She gave birth to her second daughter in September, and that has added depth to the perspective of this so-called reality star. Nevertheless, that personal growth hasn't translated into reconciliation with her co-stars. Madix has said that she hasn't been to Something About Her, a sandwich shop in West Hollywood co-owned by Madix and Maloney, acknowledging their hard work. "Even if we don't speak, of course, I want to see them succeed. I love a good sandwich," she said. The mother of two also spoke about her relationship with the show's infamous duo, Tom Sandoval and Tom Schwartz. Although she wished to steer clear of interactions with Sandoval, she admitted to a recent hangout with Schwartz. As for her complicated relationship with Jax Taylor, she admitted to blocking him but still encounters him because their children are in the same school. Bonds That Endure
Not all bridges are burned, though. Kent shared her fondness for Brittany Cartwright, Taylor's estranged wife, calling her "thick" and reaffirming their close bond. Additionally, her love for Lisa Vanderpump, who brought her onto the show in the first place, is still intact, although she did skip the recent Vanderpump Dogs Foundation Gala despite being invited.
The Future of Vanderpump Rules As Kent looks back on her relationships, uncertainty about what will happen to "Vanderpump Rules" seems present. With its cast caught in personal dramas and shifting dynamics, the return of the show creates an interesting conundrum. Seasons 1-11 of the drama are available on Peacock, allowing viewers the opportunity to reminisce about the drama that made the series a cultural phenomenon.
Whether or not Kent's honesty and broken relationships come into play in the next installment of "Vanderpump Rules" her story is a testament to the progression that reality stars go through. At least for now, it seems Kent is more about personal growth, her children, and taking on the realities of fame all in her own way.
