CHARACTERS

Kim Soo-hyun portrays Baek Hyun-woo, Hae-in’s husband and the legal director of Queens Group. Born in the rural area of Yongdu-ri, he pursued a career in law after graduating from Seoul National University. Moon Seong-hyun and Choi Yi-an depict him in his teenage and childhood years, respectively. Kim Ji-won plays Hong Hae-in, Hyun-woo’s wife and the CEO of Queens Department Store, hailing from a prominent chaebol family. Hwang Ji-ah and Min Seo-hyung portray her during her teenage and childhood phases. Park Sung-hoon appears as Yoon Eun-sung, Hae-in’s university acquaintance turned investor, while Lee Joo-won depicts his childhood. Kwak Dong-yeon is Hong Soo-cheol, Hae-in’s younger brother and CEO of Queens Mart, with Kim Joon-eui playing his childhood counterpart. Lee Joo-bin is Cheon Da-hye, Soo-cheol’s wife, and Choi Na-rin portrays her in childhood.

Supporting characters include members of Hae-in and Hyun-woo’s families, such as Kim Kap-soo as Hae-in’s grandfather, Lee Mi-sook as his girlfriend, Jung Jin-young as her father, Na Young-hee as her mother, and Kim Jung-nan as her aunt. Goo Shi-woo plays Soo-cheol and Da-hye’s son, while Park Yoon-hee appears as Hae-in’s uncle. Ko Dong-ha’s character is Hae-in’s late elder brother. Hyun-woo’s family includes Jeon Bae-soo and Hwang Young-hee as his parents, and Kim Do-hyun and Jang Yoon-ju as his elder siblings. Kim Dong-ha portrays his nephew.

In Yongdu-ri, Kim Young-min is Yong-song, Park Jung-pyo is Chun-sik, Shim Woo-sung is Park Seok-hoon, Park Sung-yeon is Kang-mi, Lee Soo-ji is Bang-sil, Lee Ji-hye is Hyun-jung, and Kim Do-jin is a boxing student. Other characters include Kim Joo-ryoung as a private secretary, Yoon Bo-mi as Hae-in’s secretary, Moon Tae-yu as a divorce lawyer, and Jeong Ji-hwan as Hyun-woo’s secretary. Extended characters are portrayed by Seo Sang-won, Shim Hye-rim, and Kwak Jin-seok.

STORYLINE

“Queen of Tears” is a South Korean TV drama created by Park Ji-eun, co-directed by Jang Young-woo and Kim Hee-won, and featuring Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Ji-won. The show revolves around the challenges faced by a married couple. It aired on tvN from March 9 to April 28, 2024, airing every Saturday and Sunday at 21:20 (KST), and is also streamable on TVING in South Korea and Netflix in certain regions.

The final episode of “Queen of Tears” achieved a nationwide rating of 24.850%, making it the highest-rated series on tvN, surpassing “Crash Landing on You.” Additionally, it ranks as the third highest-rated series in Korean cable television history in terms of viewership ratings and the second highest in terms of viewer count. The series follows the struggles and eventual reconciliation of Hong Hae-in, a third-generation chaebol heiress of Queens Group, and Baek Hyun-woo, a farmer’s son from Yongdu-ri, throughout their three-year marriage.
