Ditto by NewJeans broke THIS record set by BTS’ Dynamite (“Say it back, oh, say it ditto”), and the group’s girls once more won the hearts of their followers and millions of listeners. The five-piece chose to make a comeback after having an incredibly strong debut with their self-titled mini-album, all four of which songs were successes and received particularly strong viral support for the song “Hype Boy.”
First resurgence of NewJeans
The girls made their first comeback to the music industry with the song “OMG,” which is receiving a positive reception and rising up several music charts. The five-piece did, however, release a pre-release song titled “Ditto” prior to the official release in January. The song was accompanied by two captivating music videos called “Side A” and “Side B,” in which actors Choi Hyun Wook and Park Ji Hoo played pivotal parts. Kim Joo Heon also had a fascinating cameo in this period. The song itself is incredibly fun and catchy, and it continues the groovy, Y2K-inspired image that NewJeans has kept since their debut.
Perfect All Kills by Ditto
A song achieves Perfect All Kill, or PAK, when it tops all significant Korean streaming music services. A song needs to be at the top of the Melon, Genie Music, YouTube Music, FLO, VIBE, and Bugs music charts in order to accomplish a Perfect All Kill.
BTS, the South Korean musical sensations, released their first full English track “Dynamite” in August 2020, which generated a massive 610 PAKs (Perfect All Kill) following its launch. Although the song has achieved a lot of success over the past two years, it has now been surpassed by NewJeans’ “Ditto”. The song was released in December 2022 and managed to secure its 611th Perfect All Kill on February 2nd at 12:30 PM KST, according to iChart, and its popularity continues to grow. Currently, “Ditto” has officially recorded 622 PAKs and shows no signs of slowing down. It seems that the fervor surrounding the song is here to stay for the foreseeable future.
