Juror Dismissed in Diddy Trial Over Residency Inconsistencies
Late Friday afternoon, Judge Arun Subramanian dismissed Juror No. 6, a 41-year-old Black corrections officer, due to "inconsistencies" in his residency claims. The juror initially stated he lived in Bronx, NY, with his fiancée and daughter, then later admitted to living mostly in New Jersey with different household members—a conflict with legal requirements for federal jurors to reside within the Southern District of New York.
Judge Subramanian noted that misleading answers about something as basic as home address raise doubts about a juror’s overall honesty and ability to follow court instructions. The defense raised concerns that removing him would impact the jury's diversity, but the judge emphasized the need to maintain integrity in the process .
The trial has entered Week 5, with prosecutors preparing to call subpoenaed witnesses, including a former assistant, around June 16–18. Meanwhile, rapper Ye (formerly Kanye West) made a high-profile—but symbolic—appearance in the courthouse’s overflow room, showing brief support for Combs before departing.
The dismissal of Juror No. 6 underscores how even small inconsistencies can jeopardize a trial’s legitimacy, especially in a case as high-profile as Sean “Diddy” Combs’s. While the defense raised valid concerns about diversity, the judge reaffirmed the priority of honesty and legal compliance. With alternate jurors in place, the trial continues uninterrupted as both sides prepare for the next wave of testimony.
