Sirens: Netflix's Dark Comedy Thriller is Making Waves This Spring

Julianne Moore, Meghann Fahy, Milly Alcock, and Kevin Bacon Star in an Irresistible Mystery — Premiering May 22

The Sirens Are Calling – A Dark Comedy with a Mythological Twist

Get ready for a seductive, suspenseful ride with Sirens, Netflix’s upcoming limited series premiering on May 22. Starring Hollywood powerhouses Julianne Moore (May December), Meghann Fahy (The White Lotus), Milly Alcock (House of the Dragon), and Kevin Bacon (City on a Hill), Sirens blends dark comedy, psychological thrills, and Greek mythology-inspired intrigue.

Set over Labor Day weekend, Sirens follows Devon (Fahy) as she navigates a world of wealth, deception, and power on a lavish island estate. But as she tries to reconnect with her sister Simone (Alcock), Devon realizes that the island’s biggest mystery isn’t in the ocean—it’s Michaela (Moore), Simone’s enigmatic and controlling boss.

What is Sirens About?

At first glance, Michaela Kell (Moore) seems like a generous philanthropist, but something about her relationship with her assistant, Simone, feels… off. When Devon visits the Kells’ exclusive island estate to stage an intervention for Simone, she quickly finds herself entangled in Michaela’s web. What follows is an intoxicating weekend of power struggles, hidden secrets, and dark humor as Devon fights to free her sister from Michaela’s grip.

Creator Molly Smith Metzler (Maid) describes the show as “a true dark comedy with teeth.” She adds, “This series has high-stakes drama, it’s unsettling, and it plays with operatic emotions. It’s also laced with a Greek mythology vibe.”

Meet the Cast of Sirens

Netflix has assembled a star-studded ensemble to bring Sirens to life:

  • Julianne Moore as Michaela Kell – The island’s queen bee. A high-society socialite, philanthropist, and animal activist, she exerts a cult-like influence over those around her.
  • Meghann Fahy as Devon DeWitt – A quick-witted woman spiraling in her personal life, who arrives at the island determined to save her sister.
  • Milly Alcock as Simone DeWitt – Devon’s younger sister, a charming yet impressionable assistant to Michaela, drawn into her boss’s world of excess and control.
  • Kevin Bacon as Peter Kell – Michaela’s billionaire husband, an old-money patriarch with a love for the outdoors and the occasional joint.
  • Glenn Howerton as Ethan Corbin III – A trust-fund bachelor and longtime family friend, burning through his fortune.
  • Felix Solis as Jose – The estate’s head of security and surveillance, who keeps a close eye on everything.
  • Bill Camp as Bruce DeWitt – Devon and Simone’s father, a former Navy man battling early-onset dementia.
  • Josh Segarra as Raymond – Devon’s toxic on-again, off-again boyfriend from back home.
  • Trevor Salter as Jordan – A ruggedly handsome yacht captain who captures the attention of the island’s elite.
  • Britne Oldford as Missy – The Kells’ seasonal housekeeper, who loathes the job and commute.
  • Lauren Weedman as Patrice – The Kells’ sharp, no-nonsense personal chef.
  • Jenn Lyon, Erin Neufer, Emily Borromeo as "The Fates" – A trio of wealthy socialites who serve as Michaela’s devoted entourage.

The Creative Minds Behind Sirens

Sirens is created by Molly Smith Metzler, known for her work on Maid, which spent 14 weeks in Netflix’s Global Top 10. The series is produced by LuckyChap’s Margot Robbie, Tom Ackerley, and Dani Gorin, along with Colin McKenn and Nicole Kassell (Watchmen), who also serves as director.

Is Sirens Based on a Book?

While Sirens feels like it could be ripped from the pages of a best-selling thriller, the series is actually inspired by Metzler’s stage play Elemeno Pea, which she developed at Juilliard.

When Will Sirens Premiere on Netflix?

Sirens will debut globally on Netflix on May 22, 2025. Mark your calendars, because this limited series promises to be one of the most talked-about shows of the year.
