After the dissolution of their marriage, Jenna Dewan and Channing Tatum faced the challenge of navigating the delicate path of coparenting their daughter, Everly. In an interview with Romper on Wednesday, January 17, Dewan, 43, shared insights into their coparenting journey and the lessons she has learned along the way.

“It’s always a journey,” Dewan remarked. “It never ends. You just learn as you go and get better at certain things, and for me, Evie will always be my top priority. I just continually put her first. That’s how I can manage all hard things.”

Dewan and Tatum, 43, first met in 2006 while working on the film Step Up and subsequently tied the knot in 2009. The couple welcomed their daughter, Everly, four years later. Unfortunately, they decided to part ways in 2018, finalizing their divorce the following year.

In the aftermath of their separation, Dewan struggled with the challenges of splitting custody of their daughter. Reflecting on those early days, she admitted, “In the beginning, that was really tough.” However, as time passed, Everly adapted to the new arrangement and developed a special bond with her half-brother, Callum.

Dewan has since moved on with Steve Kazee, and the couple welcomed their son, Callum, in 2020. The actress and dancer is currently expecting her second child with Kazee. Despite the seven-year age gap, Dewan expressed joy over Everly and Callum’s close relationship, noting that Everly is “really protective of him.”

Coparenting with Tatum, who is now engaged to Zoë Kravitz, has evolved into a positive and respectful dynamic. A source shared in May 2023 that Tatum has “the utmost respect” for Dewan, emphasizing their strong coparenting relationship and healthy communication.

The former couple continues to demonstrate their unity at Everly’s Irish dancing competitions, showcasing their commitment to supporting their daughter’s endeavors. Dewan’s candid revelations shed light on the complexities and triumphs of coparenting, proving that putting the child first remains the guiding principle in their shared journey.

As Dewan and Tatum navigate the ever-evolving landscape of coparenting, their commitment to providing a stable and loving environment for Everly stands as a testament to their dedication as parents
