Story
The War of the Rohirrim explores the little-known history of Helm’s Deep and the fabled King of Rohan, Helm Hammerhand, who lived hundreds of years before the events of the main Lord of the Rings trilogy. It delves into his life, the difficulties he encountered, and the violent periods that helped to mold the kingdom of Rohan into what it became during the War of the Ring.
Plot
The land of Rohan was a violent and turbulent place for hundreds of years prior to the events of “The Lord of the Rings.” As the powerful warrior and ruler of Rohan, Helm Hammerhand is constantly under attack from foes both inside and outside his realm.
At the start of the narrative, the warlord Wulf and his Dunlendings are laying siege to Rohan. Helm Hammerhand rallies his people to defend their homeland as the Dunlendings wreak havoc throughout the kingdom. While all of this is going on, Helm’s personal life is completely upended when Wulf’s men kidnap his daughter, Hera.
Motivated by fury and despair, Helm sets out on a treacherous quest to save Hera and recover his realm. He makes connections with people who will influence Rohan’s future as he travels and meets both allies and foes. Helm’s internal conflict, his unwavering resolve, and the sacrifices he makes for his people are all explored in the movie.
The building and defense of Helm’s Deep, a stronghold that will come to represent resiliency and hope for the Rohan people, constitute the film’s climactic action. Helm Hammerhand has to face Wulf in a combat that will decide Rohan’s fate as the decisive battle approaches.
