Story

Amidst a worldwide pandemic, eminent virologist Professor Edward Bellows (Sean Kenney) encounters an incessant assault of inquiries from sassy journalist Grace Baxter (Olivia d’Abo). As the entire world watches their acrimonious exchange, tension builds as Grace questions every response from Edward. In the meantime, Britt (Kelli Maroney), a college roommate, and Marnie (Laurene Landon), a roommate, struggle with the harsh realities of social distancing and isolation. On the other hand, a couple split up by continents, Matt (Mark Brenes) and Cathy (Eileen Dietz), try to stay in touch via video chats and nostalgic moments. Each character finds unexpected humor and fortitude in the face of hardship as they work through their own struggles.

Plot

In the film Staycation, three entwined stories describe a devastating global pandemic that the world is currently dealing with. In a tense interview, investigative journalist Grace Baxter (Olivia d’Abo) pushes renowned virologist Edward Bellows (Sean Kenney) to the limit in front of a large international audience. While navigating the chaos of the pandemic, roommates Britt (Kelli Maroney) and Marnie (Laurene Landon) manage their personal crises. Parallel to this, two people who reside on different continents—Cathy (Eileen Dietz) and Matt (Mark Brenes)—try to stay in touch electronically by exchanging memories and raising a glass via webcam.
