Story
Nathan Caine has always lived with the peculiar reality of being impervious to pain, a trait that has isolated him from society. His life takes a thrilling turn when he meets and falls for Lucy. However, their budding romance is abruptly interrupted by a violent bank robbery where Lucy is taken hostage. Nathan must now embrace his unique condition, using it to outsmart and confront the dangerous robbers. In a race against time, he discovers untapped strengths and forges unexpected alliances to save the woman he loves.
Plot Summary
Nathan Caine (Jack Quaid), the protagonist of Novocaine, is a mild-mannered recluse who was born without the ability to feel pain as a result of a rare genetic disorder. Nathan lives a modest life as a librarian and stays out of trouble despite his unusual condition. When he meets and falls in love with a vibrant young woman, played by Amber Midthunder, his world takes an unexpected turn.
Their budding romance is interrupted when Nathan’s new love is kidnapped by a gang of vicious criminals led by Ray Nicholson’s character during a violent bank robbery. Nathan learns that he can use his lifelong ailment to become superpowered in an attempt to save her. He sets out on a risky rescue mission using his incapacity to feel pain, fighting the bandits with a combination of bravery, cunning, and a dash of humor.
Nathan discovers hidden strengths and questions his own ideas of what it means to be brave as he makes his way through the dangerous situation. He finds himself changing from a quiet introvert into an unlikely hero.
