Storyline

Three women who are having financial difficulties are followed in “Bee Hive”: Lisa, Dee, and Kim. They are all dealing with different issues when they are lured into the hazardous world of drug trafficking, where they are controlled by Zeus, the local mob boss. They must negotiate the perilous waters of betrayal, loyalty, and survival as their desperation pushes them into a criminal underworld. Their decisions as they go farther into the underworld create a series of circumstances that will put their friendships to the test and permanently alter their lives.

Characters

Lisa (Jalisa McFat): Portrayed as a determined and resourceful woman, Lisa is the de facto leader of the trio, trying to keep her family afloat by any means necessary. Her street smarts and unyielding will drive much of the plot.

Dee (Rese Cheri): Dee is a loyal friend with a sharp tongue and a quick wit. Despite her tough exterior, she battles internal demons that complicate her involvement in the drug trade.

Kim (Madison Warren-Coombs): The most reserved of the three, Kim is reluctant to enter the world of crime but finds herself pulled in by circumstances beyond her control. Her internal conflict adds depth to her character as she struggles to reconcile her moral values with the harsh realities she faces.

Zeus (Brittany Diamond Carpentero): The feared local kingpin, Zeus, is both charismatic and ruthless. She exerts a strong influence over the three women, using manipulation and power to keep them under her control.

Mike (Malachi Hamilton): A small-time criminal with ambitions, Mike serves as a bridge between the women and the kingpin, complicating their situation further.

Boss (Calvin Rowell): A menacing figure in the criminal world, Boss plays a pivotal role in escalating the stakes for the women.

Review
The grim and accurate depiction of life on the edge is given in “Bee Hive.” Under Nakia T. Hamilton’s direction, the ensemble gives powerful performances; Jalisa McFat, in particular, gives a riveting and heartbreaking performance as Lisa. With a suspenseful plot, the movie explores themes of moral ambiguity, loyalty, and desperation. But the middle act’s slower pacing somewhat lessens the intensity of the movie. Although the dialogue occasionally falls into clichés, it is authentic and the tense atmosphere more than make up for these small issues. “Bee Hive” is an all-around strong drama that strikes a chord with its honest depiction of surviving in a society where morality is ambiguous.

Box-Office Collection
“Bee Hive” had a low opening on July 6, 2024, which was appropriate given that it was an independent drama. Strong word-of-mouth contributed to the movie’s ongoing success, which brought in about $2.5 million during its first weekend of release. At the conclusion of its theatrical run, “Bee Hive” had earned $10 million in domestic sales. These figures are not as impressive as those of blockbuster movies, but they are still regarded as successful for a low-budget movie, especially one that had a restricted distribution.
