John Wick: Chapter 4,’ the highly anticipated fourth instalment of the celebrated action thriller franchise ‘John Wick’ is almost here. The film’s final trailer that was released on Thursday looked promising and the fans are now more than ready to experience some top-notch action on the big screen.

Earlier Keanu Reeves promised fans of some good quality action content. He shared that he got to do some more driving, “And not just ordinary driving, I got to do some nunchucks, and hopefully got to the next level in sub judo and jiu-jitsu. There’s car-fu, gun-fu, and now sword-fu, there are lots of ‘fus’ in there,” he said. He also added that the fourth chapter is all about, “swag cars, jiu-jitsu, and weapons.”

The film’s stunt coordinator, Scott Rogers also talked about the franchise, “John Wick movies they’re known for Keanu Reeves doing the stunts. His attitude and the talent whether it’s handling a gun, how it reloads, it’s compelling to see him do it.”

Rogers further added, “We tore all the doors and lost the windshield, you’re gonna do a reverse 180 and you gotta shoot a gun, and you gotta reload. He (Reeves) actually started getting too good in the car.”

What’s the director’s take on the action scenes

The film’s director Chad Stahelski talked about the philosophy behind shooting the franchise’s action scenes in 2019. He said, “love live performances. I love sitting and watching a stage. So all the action [in ‘John Wick’] was kind of choreographed so you can sit and watch. Again everybody gives us the long takes, the limited editing stuff. That’s not like the overall goal, our goal is immersion and the more you see Keanu doing stuff the more you buy into that John Wick is a badass because you’re seeing Keanu Reeves be a badass. It just goes with the immersion into the character.”

Stahelski also added, “The more you do punches and kicks, the more you gotta miss, because you gotta sell the hit, you gotta change the angle. So okay, we’re gonna get rid of punches and kicks. We’re gonna do judo, jiu-jitsu, and tactical gun work, so we can hold all the shots, no cuts. So we developed a style and reverse-engineered from there.”

John Wick: Chapter 4” arrives in theaters on March 24, 2023.
