Mercedes Blanche is among the OGs of TikTok. Hailing from Canada, the social media starlet has transitioned into the limelight of Hollywood. As an actress Mercedes has already racked up major TV and movie roles, including Amazon Studios ‘The Boys’ and action, drama, sci-fi TV show ‘Robyn Hood’ from Director X.

We chatted with Mercedes to talk transitioning from small to big screens.

Welcome Mercedes! Can you tell us about your background growing up?

Yes, my name is Mercedes Blanche. I was born in Budapest, Hungary and raised in Toronto, Canada. I moved to Toronto at the age of 17 and finished my studies there. I received my degree in Project Management and worked in health care for a few months. I got into social media and acting approximately at the same time. Then I relocated to Los Angeles.

When did you start being a digital creator?

Ahead of the pandemic around 2018 into 2019.

How did you transition into acting?

Acting started for me around 2020 / 2021. I was always amazed by how movies were made. I love behind the scenes and secrets after a good movie or show. Especially horror movies. I am a huge fan.

How would you describe the acting projects that you typically prefer?

The beauty of acting to me is that you can try on so many different personalities and emotions. I really enjoy the more melancholic projects. More real, rawer.

What is your creative process when preparing for a TV role or movie?

I like to do my research on the role and listen to music according to the set vibes. That really puts me in the mood. I do that for photo shoots too.

What makes a good filming environment for you?

People. I love a good crew. If they are happy, I am happy.

Have you ever attended acting school?

Yes, I went to LB acting studios in Toronto and also had some classes in Budapest, my birth city.

Has there been one particular moment in your career that you’re most proud of?

Yes, I loved my role in ‘Robyn Hood’ on Global TV. I play Madison, the love interest of Chet Prince, one of the bad guys in the show. It was very interesting to play a character who wasn’t really a bad or good person. She is just naïve and madly in love with Chet who isn’t the best person to marry. He just jumps from girl to girl and uses Madison as jewelry or toy to show off.

The whole shoot was super fun. The crew made it so much easier. The funniest moment was probably when I walked in the makeup trailer to get ready to look like Madison and the makeup artist hugged me and said, “I know this girl from TikTok!” I was not expecting that at all I laughed out so loud. We had a great few weeks together.

What’s been the pros and cons of pursuing your career?

Pros are getting to know a lot of people and being able to travel a lot for sure. Cons are me missing out a lot of family events and hard to maintain friendships due to my work environment.

Who would you like to collaborate with in future?

Ryan Murphy! Fingers crossed.

If you had one message to give to your fans, what would it be?

Do what makes you happy and listen to your gut feelings.

If you weren’t into creating digital content and acting what else would you be doing?

Probably I would open a café.

If you could give your younger self one piece of advice, what would it be?

Love yourself.

What’s up next for you?

Movies, movies, movies! I would love to get cast in a show soon too.
