Rounak Gulia is India’s wrestling champion who has won numerous tournaments and titles, including the Bharat Kesari title.
Rounak Gulia is a professional wrestling champion who began her career in wrestling after her marriage. Rounak is a strong-headed woman when in the ring and a polite, kind person off the ring. She has come across one too many obstacles since her childhood, but nothing was strong enough to break her spirit.
Rounak got married to Ankit Gulia in 2017. Before her marriage, she was pursuing her graduation B.Sc. from I.P. college. During her college years, one of Rounak’s professors encouraged her to try her hand at wrestling as she appeared to possess the skills for it, and it might help her gain extra credit scores. Once she stepped into the wrestling ring, she developed a fondness for the sport. A few days later, wrestling was everything she could think of. Later on, she decided to drop out of college and put all her concentration on honing her skills in wrestling. She joined the arena of renowned wrestler Guru Chandgiram and started training.
Rounak Gulia’s in-laws supported her and uplifted her to pursue her ambitions. There were times when strangers criticised her for wearing revealing training clothes, but with supportive in-laws, she overcame every hurdle that came her way. Rounak says, “My family always supported me, but I received criticism from outsiders as I was married and I would have to wear small clothes for training.” In 2018, Rounak won her first Bharat Kesari award and another after a few years.
Rounak has accomplished a lot in just a few years with her hard work, commitment, and zeal to make her dreams come true. In 2019 she participated in National Wrestling Tournament and won a bronze medal. Further on, she won a silver medal in 2020 and bronze again in 2021. Rounak Gulia participated in India’s Ultimate Warrior; a reality show based on martial arts hosted by Vidyut Jammwal. Rounak competed against men in the first episode and earned the Star Warrior title.
Rounak Gulia is a true example for women. She breaks all the stigma against married women in society and brings a ray of hope to married women with dreams to pursue their long-lost passion. Rounak is socially active on Instagram and has more than 300K followers. She is currently training energetically for the upcoming sports tournaments such as Asian Games and Olympics 2022.
