The difference between a new entrepreneur and a seasoned one is that the former always keeps an eye on profit, whereas the latter invest in their employees. Most businesses come to an unexpected end because inexperienced entrepreneurs completely focus on profit rather than the processes that eventually lead to it. An experienced and successful entrepreneur will always focus on the right planning, strategies, and finally, the proper execution of it all. Entrepreneur and CEO of a billion-dollar company Giovanti Humphries is one such example. He prioritized people before profit to turn his company into a billion-dollar empire.

Growing up in the suburbs of the Bay Area, Giovanti knew that life was going to continue being hard if he didn’t work tirelessly to improve things. From a very young age, Giovanti has sporadically experienced homelessness. He adopted the culture of the streets for survival until his grandmother started taking care of him. They struggled financially to make ends meet. Giovanti worked several odd jobs to pursue his college education and later completed an MBA at the University of Miami.

His hard work finally paid off as Wells Fargo Advisors hired him as a brokerage associate. His natural entrepreneurial skills soon pushed him into the position of senior manager and subsequently vice president at the company. After gaining a few more years of experience, he moved to greener pastures at City National Bank as the vice president of business development for the San Francisco Bay Area. Since then, he has shifted to different industries, gaining a wealth of experience and knowledge.

In late 2017, Giovanti decided to end his career in corporate finance and start a business venture in cannabis technology. He and his partner co-founded GW Holdings. The then start-up is now on track to become a $100 million company in the next few years. To scale up the growth of his company, Giovanti went to the World Economic Forum in Davos. There he spoke about cannabis and technology legislation in Malta. His perception of cannabis and the crypto market earned him praise from different corners of the world.

As the CEO of GW Holdings, Giovanti has proved that a guy from the streets can grow up to become an entrepreneur who can not only run a billion-dollar empire but also create one. His achievements could never make him forget about his community and his past. He knows that his community’s youth needs a financial and emotional boost. He aspires to be a role model to people in his community to encourage them to pursue their passion and develop careers even if they are from the streets.

Giovanti believes that the success behind his growing empire is his belief that the people behind the business are more important than the turnover. It is people who put in the hard work to make the business grow. If he focuses on his employees’ growth, it will eventually positively impact his company’s growth.

Even today, he is raising his voice for those disproportionately affected by cannabis laws and will continue to do so in the future. He also wants to take his business to the next level and transform the lives of people in his community.
