In movies we see that the lead always has side characters, to compliment and support their performance. Similarly in real life, Epiphany Monet is one such singer and songwriter from Southern California who has achieved great success, with the help of others by her side. When Epiphany was just starting out, she was really scared of open mics, and would often doubt her talents. Her best friend made her believe that the open mics may be quite intimidating but they are simultaneously freeing. She shares a fun secret by saying that she and her best friend used fake names on the signup sheet to calm down their nerves.
Whenever she performed at any music event, she made sure to replay the whole performance in her head. After replaying, she had always pointed out the mistakes in her head. She would laugh with her mom about forgetting a lyric or fumbling over the guitar strings. But, her mom in return would tell her that no one probably noticed that she messed up. After all this, Epiphany promised her own self to do better the next time. She never got demotivated or de-encouraged after her bad performances; instead, she saw those as learning experiences and moved forward towards bettering her skills.
She had dedicated long hours of her day to practice the music she was learning. She practised songs until her mom grew tired of hearing the same four chords from her bedroom. Epiphany has always considered music to be her safe haven; even she says that this belief is not going to change anytime in the future as well. She elaborately explains, “It’s the only place where I feel like myself, where I don’t have to be afraid.” She is extremely close to her family and considers her family a big part of her story. She ardently believes that she would not be able to create without them. She says, “They challenge me to be the type of person who doesn’t give up.” Now with all the support and love, Epiphany is shining bright like a star in the music industry.
