Rhett Lindsey, a former employee in the world celebrated companies like Facebook and Tinder, is now focused on bringing compassion, access, community, respect, and accountability to the forefront of the recruiting process. While working under these companies, he faced and noticed discrimination based on race. According to Lindsey, black people such as himself systematically faced racism, highlighting significant gaps in the market when it comes to promotion, pay and opportunity. Rhett Lindsey got tired of seeing how dehumanizing and transactional the hiring process could be. He finally decided to leave his six-figure job last fall to uproot the system.

Throughout his time as a recruiter at Tinder, Rhett continuously dealt with unjust recruitment technologies such as Applicant Tracking Systems, or ATS, that led to unconscious bias in the hiring process.  He claimed that the hiring system of Facebook failed to actually recruit diverse talent. Lindsey alleged that some potential candidates who had the necessary qualifications and work experience have even been rejected over vague terms like ?cultural fit?.

Raised by a single mother in Clayton County, Atlanta, Georgia., Lindsey preaches to his mother for her large contribution towards his future and a true role in exposing him to other cultures and experiences outside their neighbourhood surroundings. He also described his mother as a true woman of character and strength.

As of today, the world now knows Rhett Lindsey as the founder of Siimee, a new recruiting platform. Established in December 2020, Siimee connects candidates and employers by focusing on who people are, not what they are. Looking at people based on their background and their aspirations for where they want to go in their careers and align that with their company goals, they are trying to offer a place of equal and fair opportunity.

Talking about his company, he mentions that Siimee reduces bias by prioritising people?s skills and goals over their ?identifiers?. Visuals and other information are withheld until both employer and candidate match. He also mentions that Siimee is a recruiting app that directly connects candidates and employers by creating a one-to-one matching experience. It highlights users? backgrounds and interests to opportunities while eliminating early bias that historically occurs in the recruiting process.

Lindsey said the pandemic has offered his team space and time to really flesh out the Siimee product. But, on the negative side, he said it has still been a challenge growing the company during such an unpredictable time. Lindsey?s belief that ?inclusion is the connector between diversity and opportunity? has received much praise and Siimee is growing as a platform day by day. To know more, follow:
