He is known as a fashion lifestyle icon for a reason and has a career filled with prominent awards, accolades and high-profile fashion shows.
The fashion industry has never been a walk in the park. People who are established names in the industry have had to sacrifice a lot and face numerous challenges to get where they are today. We came across a man who left his stable and wonderfully paying job and went towards fulfilling his dreams to work in the fashion niche for his pure love and passion for designing and creating. He is none other than Justin Haynes, the founder of JUS10H, an icon in fashion designing, and an International designer who has imprinted his mark in the fashion industry and has become an inspirational success story for many aspirants in the fashion world.
We got the opportunity to sit with him and discuss more about his life story and his successes in the fashion world.
Tell us about yourself and your journey to our readers.
I am from Springfield, a small city in Massachusetts in the United States. I always dreamt of becoming a fashion designer. To fulfill my dreams and to live for my passion for the fashion industry, I resigned from my then comfortable and well-paying job. This led me to start a clothing brand called ‘JUS10H’ in January 2010. In the initial days, it was a tough game for everyone. Coming from a small town, I learned how common people could maintain fashion in their daily lives. Living in the fashion world, I observed how celebrities and fashion icons maintained their looks. Being a great observant about trends and people, I introduced a unique style to the clothing industry.
What you think makes you stand apart in the fashion industry?
I believe I have immersed myself in the industry so much that each design and creations I make exude a different level of creativity and innovativeness, which has what made me unique. Also, my clothes represent radiant colours, elegant designs, distinct patterns, and, more specifically, a unique patchwork. My works are unique in style because of the patchwork that is rarely seen in the fashion world. My clothing outcomes can be worn by any kind of personality, which is why people refer to me as a “Ready to Wear Designer”. From common people to celebrities, fashion icons, and even magazine models are desperate to try out JUS10H clothing products.
What are the achievements you would like to highlight?
I have been in the business for more than a decade successfully, 13 years to be exact. In these years, I consider myself fortunate to have received many awards such as “Best Women’s Ready To Wear Designer 2019”, “Fashion and Life Style Award” from the Black Business Association 2019, and “Natural Born Artist 2019/2020”. I was also named in Top Business Leader 2020 by Yahoo Finance, referred to as Fashion Lifestyle Icon by Google News, and ranked #7 of Top 10 Top Entrepreneurs of 2020 in USA TODAY. I was the first from the Springfield area to showcase in Paris Fashion Week (held at the Eiffel Tower), New York Fashion Week, LA Fashion Week, and Miami Fashion Week.
How has the pandemic affected your business?
Definitely, the times are tough and businesses have been affected, but I think one needs to accept the ‘new normal’ and walk in sync with the current times with optimizing the digital mediums. I did the same by showcasing my innovative collections through these digital platforms. I have also released two virtual collection shows, GRAYSCALE” and “ORA”, debuted to a full VIP Room plus a virtual audience of more than 10K.
