In the midst of economic uncertainty, Todd Peters of Kitting and Assembly Solutions is betting big on a bright spot to keep expanding.

That bright spot is the promotional companies working with large companies, concert and festival promoters, and just about anyone staging an event.

You know that water bottle you get at a company conference, the one with your firm’s logo on it? How about that snazzy fleece vest that fits just right and is emblazoned with your company logo?

There is no shortage of schwag and Kitting and Assembly Solutions is positioned perfectly to receive it all from the manufacturer, then ship it to the company, which then emblazons the item with a logo and branding before distributing to employees, or concert and conference attendees.

Kitting and Assembly Solutions already has a firm customer base of promotional companies, but Todd at the beginning of each year works the phones to bring more on board. Increased work with promotional companies is the break in the clouds that Todd is sure he will see.

During the pandemic the promotional work dropped off, partly because of supply chain issues; increased shipping costs; increased cost of supplies for customers; and a major reduction in public events. But Kitting’s FBA—Fulfillment By Amazon—work expanded and Todd saw his business and revenue double.

Now, Todd remains cautiously optimistic because the promotional end of the business is picking up at a rapid place. These companies are attractive to Todd because they can place orders to ship more than 18,000 items at a clip, to just one address. The business generated  by these companies allows Todd to shift away from FBA customers, as this work is time intensive for a lesser return.

“I’m trying to refocus and get back to the promotional side, but at the same time keep the FBA, while scaling that down,” Todd said.

Kitting and Assembly Solutions is a Colorado-based Third-Party Logistics firm that provides a range of services. Besides Amazon FBA, Kitting and Assembly Solutions does prep, kitting, labeling, assembly, custom packaging, shipping, receiving, storage and quality control.

Kitting and Assembly Solutions:

Todd has been working in warehouses for three decades, since age 16.

He launched his career by running small operations. But he soon took on more responsibilities by managing two 150,000-square-foot warehouses, with 50 employees each. Nine years ago, he launched Kitting and Assembly Solutions in his garage. Now, the company makes its home in a 10,000-square-foot warehouse not far from Denver and employs 12.

Todd said his employees are pivotal to Kitting’s success, and he is proud of the quality and integrity they deliver on a consistent basis.

“They’re great employees and very dedicated,” he said. “People come and go, but I’ve had people here for years and years. So if I provide a good place for them to work, then they’ll be satisfied and fulfilled, and want to remain here.”
