From Podcast to Print: Yvonne Sandomir’s Book Guides Parents in Protecting Children from Sexual Abuse

Yvonne Sandomir

Child sexual abuse is a problem that plagues society, but it’s a topic many people feel uncomfortable discussing. However, for Yvonne Sandomir, it’s a topic she feels passionate about raising awareness about. As a survivor of multiple horrific traumas, Yvonne knew it was her mission to be a voice for child sex abuse awareness, red offender flags, signs and symptoms of abuse, and prevention early in life. She started a podcast, “Survivor Strong,” in April 2022 to spread awareness about all things related to child sex abuse and incest.

Yvonne’s journey towards becoming a voice for child sex abuse awareness started in February 2015, when she could barely get out of bed due to flashbacks from her highly traumatic childhood. Consequently, she was forced to quit her successful sales career and focus on healing. In June 2015, she found her therapist, and her healing journey began. She’s been in therapy twice a week ever since, and the insights she gained through it, and her healing journey were so profound that it compelled her to make it her mission to be a voice for child sex abuse awareness.

In addition to her personal experiences, Yvonne has a solid educational background, including a “CBT” and “Mindfulness Life Coach” certification in 2019. Her memoir, The Invisible Girl, was published in November 2021 and has been well-received by readers. Yvonne is working on her second book, a simple guide on protecting children from sexual abuse. The book’s title is “Parent’s Simple Guide to Preventing Child Sex Abuse.”

The book will be a simple yet informative guide for parents to protect their children. It will cover everything from what child sex abuse is to who offends and how to know if someone is a sex offender. Yvonne will also provide examples of “normal” negative after-effects from “abnormal” childhood trauma and offer a safety plan with tips on how to establish boundaries with their children, as well as “family rules” that every family should have.

“I believe there’s a misconception that young children are “resilient” and can bounce back from anything,” Yvonne observes. “Parents need to understand that is not true in the case of sexual abuse. I want parents to understand they must protect their children at all costs. Failing to do so, quite literally, can alter the course of their child’s life.” Yvonne learned this the hard way because, although she had faced lots of trauma before adulthood, she could not know how abuse would affect her later in life.

Through her podcast and social media pages, Yvonne has spread awareness about child sexual abuse and its impact on survivors. She’s also connected with other survivors and offered them support and guidance. Her unique perspective as a survivor of sexual abuse and her engaging conversational style make her a standout voice in this field.

Yvonne’s book will broaden her reach from her podcast and social media pages to a national audience. The book will provide parents with the tools they need to protect their children and prevent sexual abuse from happening. Yvonne’s passion for raising awareness and preventing child sexual abuse is an inspiration, and her work is sure to make a difference in the lives of countless children and families.
