Katt Williams has publicly accused Cedric the Entertainer of stealing one of his best jokes, igniting a feud between the two comedians. During an appearance on Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay podcast on January 3, Williams claimed that Cedric the Entertainer stole a joke from his comedy set in the late ’90s, which he had also performed on the BET program ComicView. Williams expressed frustration with Cedric’s denial of the allegations, stating that he had previously received apologies from Cedric and Steve Harvey for the joke theft.

Williams alleged that the stolen joke was not random but his best and last joke, performed in 1998 on BET’s ComicView. According to Williams, Cedric attended one of his shows at The Comedy Store in 1998, praised his performance, and expressed admiration for the specific joke in question. However, two years later, Cedric allegedly performed the same joke verbatim as his closing joke on “The Original Kings of Comedy,” with only a minor alteration involving changing a car into a spaceship.

The controversy escalated when Cedric the Entertainer responded to Williams’ claims on social media, dismissing them as “revisionist history” and emphasizing his extensive career with over 40 movies and successful specials. Cedric insisted that his career couldn’t be reduced to one joke and expressed his commitment to maintaining professionalism amid the dispute.

This public feud comes after Cedric’s appearance on Club Shay Shay in November 2022, where he addressed Williams’ previous accusations, deeming them “ridiculous.” Cedric questioned why Williams had not raised the issue earlier if he was genuinely upset and suggested that the conflict had taken an unnecessary turn online.
