The tragic death of a crew member on the set of Marvel Studios’ series “Wonder Man” has sent shockwaves through the entertainment industry. The incident occurred at Studio City’s CBS Radford Studios, where the individual, identified as a rigger, fell from the rafters, according to a report from Deadline.

Marvel Studios released a statement expressing their condolences to the family and friends of the deceased crew member. They also pledged their full support for the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident, which will be led by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). Matthew D Loeb, president of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, echoed Marvel’s sentiments, expressing shock and sadness and emphasizing the union’s commitment to assisting the victim’s family and colleagues during this difficult time.

The tragic incident has once again raised concerns about safety on film sets, particularly in light of previous fatalities in the industry. The shooting death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of “Rust” in 2021 and the death of Sarah Jones during the filming of “Midnight Rider” in 2014 serve as stark reminders of the risks involved in filmmaking.

Despite these challenges, filming for “Wonder Man,” which features actor Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, is slated to begin next month after being delayed by last year’s Hollywood strikes. While the industry mourns the loss of a valued crew member, efforts to prioritize safety on set remain paramount to prevent future tragedies.
