Taylor Swift is back in the spotlight, and this time, she’s shining brightly on the big screen. The highly anticipated “Eras Tour” concert film, scheduled for a theatrical release on October 13, has already made an impressive mark by raking in a staggering $26 million in presale tickets at AMC Theatres. In a remarkable feat, it set a new single-day ticket sale record for AMC, surpassing the previous benchmark held by “Spider-Man: No Way Home” ($16.9 million) within just three hours of ticket availability.

It’s worth noting that the $26 million figure only accounts for presales at AMC, indicating that the actual number of tickets sold is significantly higher. As the world’s largest theater chain and the official distributor of the “Eras Tour” concert film, AMC has played a pivotal role in this achievement. However, the film is also set to grace screens at rival circuits like Regal and Cinemark, as well as various independent theaters.

Fandango, the popular ticketing service, also reported that “The Eras Tour” has shattered its record for the biggest first-day ticket sales in 2023. While specific numbers were not disclosed, Fandango highlighted that the film’s presales are on par with blockbuster releases like “Avengers: Endgame,” “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” and “Spider-Man: No Way Home” at similar stages of their sale cycles.

Jerramy Hainline, Senior VP at Fandango Ticketing, commended Taylor Swift’s impact on both moviegoers and the industry, stating, “Taylor Swift is giving moviegoing fans and the entire industry the ultimate gift by bringing ‘Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour’ concert film to the big screen.” He further emphasized that the film’s first-day ticket sales performance aligns it with iconic franchises such as Marvel, Star Wars, and DC Comics.

“Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” is a cinematic adaptation of Swift’s record-breaking stadium tour and promises to be a significant boost for movie theaters during the upcoming fall season. This surge in demand has led exhibitors to privately consider the possibility of a groundbreaking $100 million-plus opening weekend, a milestone unprecedented in this genre. So far, only five films in 2023, including “Barbie,” “The Super Mario Bros. Movie,” “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3,” “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse,” and “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,” have achieved such triple-digit debuts.

To accommodate the extraordinary demand, “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” will be screened at every AMC theater location in the United States with at least four showtimes per day on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Due to the overwhelming response, AMC is already planning to add extra showtimes to maximize capacity where possible.

In true Taylor Swift fashion, ticket prices bear a numerical significance, with adult tickets priced at $19.89 and children and senior tickets at $13.13 for standard screens. Imax and Dolby screenings will have different pricing tiers, offering fans an immersive and memorable cinematic experience.
