Taking on Mega Latios in Pokemon GO Mega Raids

Mega Latios is set to return to Pokemon GO, bringing formidable challenges to trainers participating in 5-star Mega Raids from January 31, 2024, at 10 am local time, to February 15, 2024, at 10 am local time. Soloing this raid might prove to be an insurmountable task, given the tremendous power of Mega Latios as a raid boss. As a result, it is recommended to assemble a group of 3 to 4 high-level trainers for a successful raid.

Finding suitable raid partners can be challenging, especially for those in rural areas or locations with a limited player base. To increase the chances of defeating Mega Latios, having at least four trainers in your raid group is advised. The heightened Combat Power (CP) stat of Latios’ Mega Evolution, set at 84,000 CP, adds to the difficulty of the upcoming Mega Raids.

For a successful raid, it is crucial for all trainers in the group to possess high-level counters. Optimal choices include Mega Rayquaza, Mega Tyranitar, Mega Garchomp, Shadow Rayquaza, Mega Salamence, Mega Gardevoir, Shadow Salamence, Shadow Tyranitar, Shadow Dragonite, and Shadow Latios. These Pokemon, when maxed out, prove to be highly effective against Mega Latios.

For those seeking easier-to-max counters, Hydreigon with Dragon Breath and Brutal Swing, Mamoswine with Powder Snow and Avalanche, Dialga with Dragon Breath and Draco Meteor, Rayquaza with Dragon Tail and Breaking Swipe, and Gengar with Shadow Claw and Shadow Ball are recommended.

During the raid, trainers should focus on dodging as many of Latios’ attacks as possible to minimize damage and avoid wasting time healing knocked-out Pokemon. Timely dodging, coupled with strong Charged moves, will gradually chip away at Mega Latios’ health, ensuring a successful completion of the Mega raid.
