The much-anticipated remake of “Road House,” featuring former two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor, is set to make its debut on Amazon Prime Video starting March 21. Directed by Doug Liman, the film will not have a theatrical release and will be available exclusively on the streaming platform.

The original “Road House,” starring Patrick Swayze, told the story of a professional bouncer attempting to clean up a rowdy bar in a small Missouri town. The reboot, however, casts Jake Gyllenhaal in the lead role of ex-UFC fighter Dalton, with McGregor taking on his first major feature film role as Dalton’s nemesis named Knox.

The film’s synopsis provides a glimpse into the reimagined storyline: “In this adrenaline-fueled reimagining of the 80s cult classic, ex-UFC fighter Dalton (Gyllenhaal) takes a job as a bouncer at a Florida Keys roadhouse, only to discover that this paradise is not all it seems.”

Jake Gyllenhaal, who participated in the film’s scenes at UFC 285 last March, filmed a choreographed battle with UFC veteran Jay Hieron during the event’s weigh-ins. Due to time constraints with an actual UFC event taking place that same night, the filming schedule for the fight scene was kept on a tight timeline after the prelims ended just minutes before the main card began.

Jay Hieron expressed his experience, saying, “We had one take. Six minutes and you’re out. You either get it or you don’t. So that process was great, too. Everybody was dialed in from the wardrobe to every piece of the production. Shout out to the whole team that had the ball rolling. It was just incredible to be a part of.”

While a trailer for the film is yet to be released, the poster for the upcoming “Road House” remake has been revealed, building anticipation for this high-energy reimagining of the 80s classic. Fans can look forward to an action-packed narrative with Jake Gyllenhaal and Conor McGregor in pivotal roles when the film lands on Amazon Prime Video on March 21.
