Adan Canto, known for his roles in “The Cleaning Lady,” “Designated Survivor,” and “Narcos,” passed away at the age of 42 on Tuesday. His death was attributed to appendiceal cancer, a diagnosis that had not been publicly disclosed. Canto’s representative confirmed the news, expressing the deep spirit and impact he had on those who knew him.

Canto’s career included notable television roles, such as portraying Aaron Shore in “Designated Survivor” for three seasons and depicting real-life politician Rodrigo Lara Bonia in the first season of Netflix’s “Narcos.” He also starred in ABC’s “Blood and Oil” and Fox’s “The Following.” Additionally, Canto had roles in films like “Agent Game” and Halle Berry’s directorial debut, “Bruised.” His contribution extended to the big screen with appearances in “X-Men: Days of Future Past.”

Most recently, Canto played the character Arman Morales in the Fox series “The Cleaning Lady.” While the show is currently filming its third season, Canto was reportedly not involved in the upcoming season due to his health.

In a joint statement, Warner Bros. Television and FOX Entertainment expressed their sorrow over Canto’s passing, describing him as a wonderful actor and dear friend. They acknowledged his impactful performances, particularly in “The Cleaning Lady,” and emphasized the significant loss to both the studios and Canto’s family.

Canto, born in Mexico and raised in Texas, was not only an accomplished actor but also a singer, guitarist, and filmmaker. He directed short films like “Before Tomorrow” in 2014 and “The Shot,” a Western featuring Theo Rossi, in 2020.

He is survived by his wife and creative partner, Stephanie Ann Canto, and their two children, Roman Alder, 3, and Eve Josephine. The news of Adan Canto’s death has saddened the entertainment industry, and his contributions to television and film will be remembered by fans and colleagues alike.
