Lisa Marie Presley died of small bowel obstruction

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner announced, six months after Lisa Marie Presley’s death, that she had died of a minor intestinal obstruction as a delayed complication of bariatric weight loss surgery. Lisa Marie Presley was the only child of Elvis Presley.

Presley, who is also a singer and composer, was transported to the hospital after allegedly going into cardiac arrest at home. Jan. 12 marks her passing. According to the medical examiner, the death was caused by “sequelae of small bowel obstruction.”

“The obstruction was in the form of a strangulated small bowel caused by adhesions that developed after bariatric surgery years ago,” the examiner wrote in a report. “This is a well-known long-term complication of this type of surgery.” The examiner claimed that she also had a history of overmedicating, repeating doses of her prescription drugs after forgetting to take them the first time. She had “therapeutic levels” of oxycodone and other drugs in her system, according to the toxicology report, which were not thought to be contributory factors.

Presley passed away two days after attending the Golden Globe Awards in Beverly Hills, California, with her mother, Priscilla Presley, where Austin Butler got the best actor prize for playing her father in the movie “Elvis.” Her daughters Riley Keough, an actress, and Finley and Harper Lockwood, twins aged 14, were left to care for her. With two albums that reached the top 10 of the Billboard 200 album chart, “To Whom It May Concern” and “Now What,” Presley launched her musical career in the 2000s.

She had four marriages and divorces, including ones to actors Nicholas Cage and music singer Michael Jackson.

She was 9 years old when Elvis Presley passed away at Graceland in 1977 from heart failure at age 42. She was the sole child of one of the greatest musicians in American history.
