Story

Plot
The poignant war and military drama “The White Olive Tree” is an adaptation of Jiu Yuexi’s book. It is based in the unstable East Country and chronicles the adventures of Liang Jie’s (Song Ran), a brave female reporter for Liang City satellite TV. She is saved during a risky assignment by Li Zan (Chen Zheyuan), a volunteer Chinese explosive engineer in the East Country. Song Ran becomes enthralled with Li Zan’s naivety and kindness, which strengthens their relationship. But when they are separated by a bombing, their developing relationship is tragically interrupted.
Both Song Ran and Li Zan struggle with the attack’s aftermath after returning to China. Song Ran finds herself in the center of controversy over a picture she took during the bombing, while Li Zan holds himself responsible for the death of a friend who gave his life to save him. Despite these obstacles, fate brings them back together and gives them the opportunity to start over. They sow the seeds of hope symbolized by the white olive tree, bound together by common ideals and strong spirits.
