Story
“My Wife’s Double Life,” a gripping historical drama, explores themes of loyalty, betrayal, and love. Storyline: Thirteen years ago, during a devastating flood, Duke Su (Lin Feng Song) saved the mysterious “Thief Wife,” Liu Rong (Zhuang Dafei). Liu Rong consents to steal a vital account book connected to the flood from the former Minister of Works Xu Chengsi’s home in order to pay back this life-saving deed.
Under the alias “Su Jinzhen,” Liu Rong marries Xu Muchen (Tang Xiao Tian), the son of Xu Chengsi, and leads a double life. During the day, she is the kind and considerate Mrs. Su, but at night, she is a bold burglar who enters the Xu home covertly at Duke Su’s command. Her covert actions cause her to run into Xu Muchen several times; he does not know that his wife and the thief are the same person. They develop a strong bond as they disagree and work together.
But as Liu Rong digs further, she learns startling details about Duke Su’s role in the flood and comes to the conclusion that he might not be as good as he appears. Liu Rong’s true identity is revealed to Xu Muchen at the same time, putting their relationship in jeopardy. As they take on the evil forces at work, they strengthen their love and work toward bringing about justice for the past.
