The passing of actor and DMDK chief Vijayakanth at the age of 71 has dealt a significant blow to the film industry. He succumbed to complications arising from Covid-19 at a private hospital in Chennai on December 28, while being on ventilator support. Initially admitted for a routine health check-up, his party stated that he was healthy, and his hospital stay was for tests.
The news of Vijayakanth’s demise reverberated across social media, prompting an outpouring of condolences from fellow stars. Megastar Chiranjeevi expressed his grief in a heartfelt post, describing Vijayakanth as “Puratchi Kalingar” and “Captain.”
Chiranjeevi highlighted Vijayakanth’s versatility as a wonderful human being, a hero of the masses, and a shrewd politician. Despite not appearing in straight Telugu films, Vijayakanth had garnered immense popularity among Telugu audiences. Chiranjeevi extended his condolences to the departed actor’s fans, family, and well-wishers, acknowledging the irreplaceable void left by his untimely departure and wishing for his soul to rest in peace.
