The Georgia Bulldogs community is mourning the loss of their beloved team mascot, UGA X, also affectionately known as Que. The news of UGA X’s passing was announced on Tuesday morning, revealing that the English Bulldog died peacefully in his sleep.

UGA X was born on May 27, 2013, and officially assumed the role of the team mascot on November 21, 2015, during a collaring ceremony held before a Georgia-Georgia Southern football game. His tenure as the mascot was marked by numerous successes and accolades, making him the most decorated among all the Bulldog mascots.

Que retired at the conclusion of the 2022 season, leaving behind an impressive legacy. During his time as the team mascot, UGA X witnessed the football program achieve significant milestones, including two SEC titles, the 2021 and 2022 College Football Playoff national championships, and seven New Year’s Six bowl appearances. His impact extended beyond the field, becoming a cherished figure among Georgia Bulldogs fans.

The official announcement from the school expressed deep sadness at UGA X’s passing and highlighted his contributions to the football program. Throughout his tenure, UGA X compiled an impressive football record of 91 wins and 18 losses.

UGA X’s journey to becoming the team mascot was rooted in family tradition. Following the retirement of Uga IX in 2014, an audition was held to select the next mascot. UGA X, the grandson of Uga IX, emerged as the rightful successor. His formal coronation took place during the collaring ceremony ahead of the Georgia-Georgia Southern game on November 21, 2015.

The audition process involved appearances at key events, including the Countdown to Kickoff in July 2015 and Picture Day in August. Que, at two and a half years old, officially began his reign as Georgia’s mascot during the 2015 football season. One of the highlights of his inaugural season was leading the team to a 24-17 victory over Penn State at the 2016 Taxslayer Bowl.

As the Georgia Bulldogs community mourns the loss of UGA X, the legacy of Que lives on in the hearts of fans. The team will continue its mascot tradition with Uga XI, also known as Boom, as the current representative. The passing of UGA X marks the end of an era, but his impact on the Georgia Bulldogs and their devoted fanbase will be remembered for years to come.
