Cher has filed for conservatorship over her son, Elijah Blue Allman, citing his alleged recent struggles with substance abuse. The documents, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, reveal Cher’s request to become the sole conservator of Elijah’s estate, asserting that he is “substantially unable to manage his financial resources.”

According to the filing, Elijah is set to receive assets from a trust by the end of the year, and Cher is seeking conservatorship urgently to protect his property from potential loss or harm due to his severe mental health and substance abuse issues. The document notes that Elijah’s estranged wife, Marieangela King, is deemed unfit to be his conservator due to their tumultuous relationship marked by drug addiction and mental health crises.

Expressing concern that funds distributed to Elijah might be immediately spent on drugs, leaving him with no assets, the filing states that Cher has worked tirelessly to get Elijah into treatment and provide the help he needs. The documents also mention that Cher, being unable to discuss Elijah’s preferences due to his current mental and physical health issues, loves him immensely and has always acted in his best interests.

Cher’s representative has not yet responded to requests for comment. A hearing for a temporary order is scheduled for January 5, 2024, with a hearing on a permanent order set for March 6, 2024.

In October, Cher addressed Elijah’s struggles with substance abuse, confirming the private family matter related to her son’s addiction issues. While she denied the rumor that she hired men to forcibly remove Elijah from a hotel room, she acknowledged the challenges of watching her son’s struggles and emphasized her role as a mother in supporting and helping her children.
